What if all of the most important things in the world got hacked and no one cared? Banks, hospitals, power grids, water systems, manufacturing plants, satellites, cars, airplanes, ships, police/fire stations, military bases and entire government agencies have all been hacked. Sure, we cared, but did we really? What changed? We have more onerous regulations, more blinky lights in data centers with more colorful dashboards, and even more people with better skills – but has security really improved? This session is about human nature, risk tolerances, unintended consequences and a healthy dose of reality. This is an answer to the question Patrick asked to start S4x19.
