Carl Hurd

Senior Research Engineer

Carl Hurd is a Senior Research Engineer at Cisco Talos working on the ARES (Advanced Research in Embedded Systems) team. After a brief time within the national laboratory system, gaining valuable experience in ICS security, Carl moved to a more focused vulnerability discovery role at Cisco Talos. Carl’s experience in ICS Security runs the gamut: malware and firmware reverse engineering, vulnerability research, penetration testing on live ICS networks, and even incident response. While most of Carl’s time is spent on vulnerability research on various devices, unique malware samples on non-x86 architectures are a typical side project.
