Stuart King found a niche in manufacturing security and has been hooked on it ever since. Currently working for as a Consultant helping clients with defining their security strategy, assessing cybersecurity risks and finding solutions to complex problems.
Stuart’s career began with 10 years’ military service, before moving into civilian life as a software developer. His career path led to 12 years with the Reed Elsevier Group, including a period as Head of Security for Reed Exhibitions; the world’s largest exhibitions company, and 6 years as the corporate Head of Information Security Assurance. This later role saw Stuart relocating to the USA and then leading him to be the global head of IT Security for the world’s largest bakery foods manufacturing company. That was followed with a key leadership role in industrial cybersecurity for Sony, leading security assessments within their electronics and semiconductor factories.
Stuart is a firm follower of the principle that to mitigate security risks requires a thorough understanding of the business, its people, and their processes; before addressing the technical challenges.
Stuart was one of the first fully chartered members of the Institute of Information Security Professionals; a UK-based association committed to advancing the professionalism of the information security industry, has been CISSP certified since 2002, and holds an MBA in Technology Management.
In his own time, Stuart is an amateur photographer and an avid traveler. He lives with his family and his dog, Hugo and his cat, Sidney in Northern Virginia.
