All sponsors in the S4 POC Pavilion have to deploy their solution on an ‘asset owner’ network, and they have to demonstrate live in front of the S4 audience how they solve the asset owner problem. The POC Pavilion page now has most of the asset owner problem statements and the success criteria. How the audience will know if the problem is solved.
While they have their place, vendor canned demos are designed to a) work and b) show the vendor’s product in the best light. Asset owners learn a lot more about the solution and how it will work in their environment in a proof of concept (POC) deployment on one of their systems. This is what the POC Pavilion tries to mimic, with as much reality as possible.
Booz Allen is playing the role of asset owner again this year. They are bringing a beverage manufacturing plant. The POC’s will take place on the Batch/Mixing, Bottling, and Packaging lines. You can see more details on the system on the POC Pavilion page.
An addition for S4x27’s POC is an attack team. This will allow us to test detection and protection solutions to asset owner problems. Ron Brash is leading the team, and we could use one more on this team.
You will be able to see the POC vendor solutions any time during S4x27. The big test is the live on-stage demo. Again, trying to mimic a POC we have someone play the role of asset owner and ask questions. Show me the details on this OT cyber asset. We changed it at 3PM, show me the change. We just launched an attack, show me what this looks like in your product and what your recommendations are. And so on. The audience also gets a chance to ask the sponsor questions. We hope to give these solutions a hard shake, and we hope they all do well at meeting their selected asset owner problem.
