This may be the best 3-session keynote block ever at S4. Niloofar Razi Howe will kick off the day with a keynote, and then Dale Peterson will interview CISA Director Jen Easterly and Google’s Phil Venables. And since this is Women In ICS Security Wednesday, any women who want to come to S4 for the day can see it all for free.

Niloofar Razi Howe

Niloo has a rare set of experience in international relations, technology, and venture capital. Including being active in the ICS security space with VC Energy Impact Partners, on Tenable’s Board, and the Chair of Pondurance’s Board. She’s also a compelling speaker and has unique experiences with risk as you can see in her TEDx Talk below.

Niloo’s Keynote will focus on how cyber conflict will affect international relations and vice versa. A topic she discusses on the Sunday news shows and in front of Congress. This will be her first keynote at an ICS security event.

Interview with CISA Director Jen Easterly

Jen needs no introduction to the US ICS security community. She leads the most important US government agency dealing with the cybersecurity of privately owned and operated critical infrastructure. CISA has been busy in 2021, and Dale has a lot of questions to ask Jen in this 30 minute interview. Fortunately, the S4 audience is highly experienced on ICS security so the interview can skip the basics that tend to fill most interviews.

Interview with Phil Venables, CISO for Google Cloud

If you don’t read Phil’s blog, you are missing out. Phil is a font of new ideas and new ways of looking at longstanding problems. For example, many of his articles have looked at raising the baseline while also lowering the unit cost of control and thereby applying pressure on the attackers “business models”. There is a lot of ground to cover already, and who knows what Phil will introduce in the next three months. He is a perfect person to introduce some ideas and help the community Create The Future of OT and ICS security.

After the keynote block there will be:

  • three hours on three stages
  • the Cabana Sessions that afternoon (we have two years of cabana session plans to set loose)
  • the first Women In ICS Security social event in the early evening

It should be an amazing day at S4x22.
